Scott Griffin (b.1970 Oshawa, Canada) is a self-taught artist. He grew up in a family of bush pilots on a farm on Canada's Scugog Island and, while his family expected him to follow their flying tradition, Griffin had an urge to create. As a boy, he salvaged unusual materials scattered around the farm and began to create the characters that still populate his work today.
When we first met Scott & began showing his work, somewhere around 1997, he was using a blow torch to draw on salvaged metal. In the early 2000's he switched to encaustic on salvaged lumber. His latest work is more traditional in nature: acrylic paint on canvas.
